Covering a mass range of 1 to 200 amu with better than 1 amu resolution, the RGA200 ionizes molecules within the vacuum environment and separates the resulting ions by mass-to-charge ratio, providing real-time mass spectra for identification and measurement of residual gases, contaminants, process gases and leak species. The system incorporates an electron-impact ionizer, quadrupole mass filter and sensitive Faraday cup detector, with an optional continuous-dynode electron multiplier (CEM\/EM) for greatly enhanced sensitivity and trace partial-pressure measurements down to the 10⁻¹⁴ Torr regime. The RGA200 is well suited for residual gas analysis, vacuum diagnostics, helium leak detection, contamination analysis, outgassing studies, process monitoring, gas purity analysis, chamber qualification and vacuum-system troubleshooting, with applications in semiconductor processing, thin-film deposition, sputtering, evaporation, PVD\/CVD, surface science, accelerator systems, electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, vacuum coating, UHV research and general laboratory vacuum technology.
