Vintage Meller Optics pink ruby laser rod / optical maser crystal measuring approximately 52 mm long x 6 mm diameter. Ruby laser rods are chromium-doped sapphire, also written Cr:Al₂O₃, and were used as solid-state laser gain media in pulsed ruby laser and early optical maser systems. The pink coloration is consistent with chromium-doped synthetic sapphire / laser ruby material, though exact dopant concentration, coatings, orientation, transmission, and lasing performance have not been tested. Meller Optics has a long history in precision sapphire and ruby optics, including early ruby laser rod fabrication for MIT/NASA lunar ranging work. Useful for solid-state laser restoration, optics collecting, lab display, research parts, or vintage laser system spares. Sold as a vintage optical crystal only; inspect photos for end condition, coating condition, chips, markings, and included holders.
