"The 885 Compact Oven SC is used for automatic thermal sample preparation. The samples are heated in the oven to a temperature of up to 250 °C. This causes the water to vaporize and then be transported with a dry carrier gas into the 917 Coulometer titration cell in which the analysis takes place."
About This Instrument: The Metrohm 885 Compact Oven SC with 899 Coulometer and 803 Ti Stand is an automated Karl Fischer moisture analysis system for samples that are unsuitable for direct KF titration, including solids, viscous materials, oils, plastics, powders, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, petrochemical products, and thermally extractable moisture applications where the water must first be driven off by heat before measurement. In this workflow, sealed sample vials are advanced in the 885 Compact Oven SC, the sample is heated and the released water is transferred by carrier gas into the Karl Fischer titration cell, where the 899 Coulometer performs coulometric water content determination according to Karl Fischer. The 885 Compact Oven SC features a permanently mounted turntable with 17 sample positions, oven temperature control from 50 to 250 °C in 1 °C increments, selectable carrier gas via built-in air pump or inert-gas inlet valve, and adjustable gas flow from 10 to 150 mL/min. The 899 Coulometer is a dedicated KF coulometric water titrator with integrated magnetic stirrer, method templates, USB method export/backup capability, and remote automation support for connection to oven/sample changer modules such as the 885 Compact Oven SC. The 803 Ti Stand adds a built-in pump and magnetic stirrer for Karl Fischer titration workflows and supports aspiration of spent solution and addition of fresh solvent without opening the titration cell, while the included Metrohm 6.2061.010 bottle holder is designed for mounting up to two Dosinos on 1 L reagent bottles. This Metrohm configuration is a compact high-end moisture analysis platform for automated thermal sample preparation, KF oven analysis, trace water determination, laboratory moisture testing, QA/QC moisture analysis, and research environments requiring reliable Karl Fischer oven titration capability.
