This Shimadzu RID-6A Refractive Index Detector is a tested working HPLC RI detector / differential refractometer for liquid chromatography applications where UV detection may not be suitable. Refractive index detection is commonly used as a broad “universal” HPLC detection method for compounds that differ in refractive index from the mobile phase, including sugars, carbohydrates, polymers, alcohols, organic acids, and SEC/GPC-style workflows where analytes may lack strong chromophores. The RID-6A is a useful match for legacy Shimadzu LC systems, standalone HPLC setups, and laboratories needing an affordable working RI detector for method development, teaching, replacement, or backup use.
